WILLIAM MASON COOPER
Our school is named after William Mason Cooper, who graduated from Hampton
Institute and Columbia University. He served as an elementary school principal,
member of the Hampton School Board, Extension Director and Dean of the Teachers'
College in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He also served at Hampton Institute
and Norfolk State College.
Mr. Cooper studied extensively and believed that "preparation is the
only entrance to real success. Preparation is achieved through education.
Skill is knowing how to do it. Virtue is doing it."
